Countdown

While times are tough at the moment,
families with sick kids still need our support.
The cost of living is hurting every household in Australia.
Sadly, here at Ronald McDonald House, we aren’t immune to the ongoing cost-of-living increases. Our costs to keep the House running are growing, and the demand for our services is increasing.
This is why we are calling on your support. It's a unique opportunity to make a donation that will go even further.
From 12pm, Thursday, August 17, for 24 HOURS ONLY, all donations will be DOUBLED*
This means if you gift one night of accommodation, it makes DOUBLE the impact for families and provides two nights of support for a family who rely on our programs and services.
Thanks to the commitment of our generous Dollar-Matching partners, your donations will be matched until we reach our goal of $400,000 to fund 2,500 nights for families staying at Ronald McDonald House in Westmead.
Our Houses are some of the biggest households in Australia and families need us more than ever.
Will you Gift a Night, today?

Our matched donations are all thanks to our generous Dollar-Matching partners.
*Double Donation Terms and Conditions: Our Double Donation pool is not unlimited. All donations to a maximum of $20,000 in a single donation will be matched for 24 hours from 12pm AEST on 17 August 2023 until 12pm AEST 18 August 2023 or until the pool of $200,000 is exhausted. If you would like to donate more than $20,000 please contact matthew.mifsud@rmhc.org.au (Westmead).
MEET OUR COURAGEOUS AND BRAVE KIDS
ELI

Eli was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. His family had relocated from their home on the far south coast of NSW to ensure Eli could receive the urgent care he needed. For the next nine months, they called Ronald McDonald House their home.
"I don't know what we would have done if the House didn't exist, as we live too far... to travel back to the hospital every day. We would have had to stay in a cheap hotel and get local jobs, instead of being present for Eli."
- Dakota, Eli’s Mum

250 nights
EUGENE

At just four days old, Eugene was diagnosed with congenital heart defects. Ronald McDonald House became their home-away-from-home for the next 275 nights while Eugene went through countless treatments, tests and surgeries.
"Life without the House would have made things very difficult. The friendships with the families meant so much to me, the homely space helped normalise the situation for our young daughter. We still had all our bills to pay back home so not having to pay eased that financial burden."
– Michelle, Eugene’s Mum

275 nights
ELIZA

It was a simple doctor’s appointment for odd bruising on her legs, that turned the life of four-year-old Eliza upside down. Following her appointment and routine blood tests, Eliza was rushed to emergency for immediate blood tranfutions and the diagnosis of Leukemia
For the next gruelling seven-and-a-half months of treatment, the family called Ronald McDonad House, home.
"The House has seen us at our lowest and highest parts of Eliza’s treatment. Thank you for being the place we have called home."
- Lisa, Eliza’s Mum
Nights stayed at the House:
222 nights
BRODIE

Brodie spent over 139 nights at the House in Randwick battling a brain tumour. His parents have been right by his side, so they can be close to their brave boy.
"The House isn't just a House, it's home to many families during some of the hardest days of their lives. It provides a place for fun, interactions, activities, outings, engaging hands-on experiences and most of all it's a safe haven where sick children can be themselves and embrace their journeys with other children in similar situations."
- Kelly, Brodie's Mum.

YOUR GIFT PROVIDES MORE THAN A PLACE TO SLEEP FOR FAMILIES
On average, it costs $160 per night to support each family staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney (in Westmead).
For the families staying at the Houses, their entire stay is at no cost to help relieve some of the pressures of being away from home.
At Ronald McDonald House, a night means more than just a roof over a family’s head.
A night for our families means:
- Warm and supportive accommodation at no cost, so families can focus on their sick child.
- A network of support through other families, staff, and volunteers.
- The hospital is a quick 5-minute walk away.
- A kitchen full of food, with meals cooked by our supporters three times a week.
- In-house education support by qualified teachers.
- Access to 40 hours of free tuition when the patient returns home.
It is our goal to urgently raise $400,000 to ensure that this year, our House can continue to provide a home-away-from-home for families during the toughest times in their lives.
We need your help, now more than ever, to ensure that support continues.
