CEOS WALKING IN THE SHOES OF OUR FAMILIES

29 Jun 2021

No one can ever truly understand what a family goes through when their child is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. A diagnosis impacts not only the patient child, but the whole family. Earlier this year, two groups of brave CEOs took up the challenge to spend 22-hours at RMHC Sydney and see for themselves.

CEO Walk In My Shoes is Sydney’s newest exclusive CEO experience. With a capacity of 13 participants, it gives CEOs a very personal engagement with RMHC Sydney, as well as lots of opportunity to network with other CEOs. During their 22-hour overnight experience, participants had a full tour of the House in Randwick, cooked breakfast and dinner for the families that stay there, spent time with families and heard first-hand, what a family goes through from diagnosis to treatment. They were immersed in mock-family scenarios where they needed to decide what path to take on their family’s journey to health and work with our CEO on our strategic vision for the next 12 months and give their collective input on how we can create the best experience for families into the future.

This was undoubtedly an impactful experience for everyone. Lots to learn, lots of chatter and silence, lots of laughter and a few tears, lots of ideas and hope for the future and an incredible 936 nights of accommodation ($149,760) and support raised, to ensure that families with seriously ill children can stay at RMHC Sydney at no cost to them.

If you’d like an insight into their experience here's a 1 minute visual summary and testimonial from some of the participants.
