"The House felt like home"

09 Jun 2022

George is a twelve-year-old boy from rural NSW. He’s a die-hard Brisbane Broncos supporter and loves anything to do with sport.

George was diagnosed with scoliosis three years ago, and most of his specialist appointments are in Sydney, five hours from home.

So what a relief it was when his mum Shannon heard about Ronald McDonald House in Randwick.

“George has been absolutely so resilient to the situation. He's taken everything in his stride and he's so casual with everything that goes on. He understands that to fix it he has to go down and see the specialists”.

Even if George and his mum only stayed for one night, they found the House to be a loving, welcoming and friendly environment.

“It was amazing, totally not what I expected! It felt like home, which is what George said, and exactly what kids need when they can't be at home”.

George's story is one of our many stories from the House. You can support more families at the House by making a donation.

I'd like to support other families.
